Bellefonte PD hosts first Nat’l Night Out community building event
BELLEFONTE — Tonight, Bellefonte will host its first National Night Out, joining communities across the country in a nationwide initiative to build stronger relationships between residents and law enforcement.
The free event, organized by the Bellefonte Police Department, will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Bellefonte Waterfront near Talleyrand Park.
Held annually on the first Tuesday of August since 1984, National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Attendees will have the chance to meet local police officers, firefighters, emergency responders and community leaders — and get an up-close look at emergency vehicles, including a Life Flight helicopter.
The evening will also feature games, face painting, music, a petting zoo, dunk tank and free food and drinks while supplies last.
