Founded Jan. 26, 1926, the Kiwanis Club of Lock Haven has been serving its community for 100 years. The mission of all Kiwanis clubs is to empower their communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Throughout its history the club has been doing just that, evolving to meet our communities needs. In recent years it has become well known for its members partnering with organizations such as Sleep in Heavenly Peace, its commitment to helping Robb Elementary school with many different projects including the Bringing Up Grades program, its annual litter pickup along SR150, and bell ringing for the Salvation Army. Of course, the club is also well known for its twice yearly Spaghetti Dinner held every April and October at the Dunnstown Firehall. This signature event has been raising money for many years that goes directly back into the community, funding many different projects and assisting dozens of local non-profit organizations. Yearly, the club contributes about $10,000 or more to dozens of local organizations. In 2024 the club donated more than $13,000 to 28 different local organizations.
Meeting every Thursday at Noon at the Sons of Italy 3rd floor, interested people are encouraged to attend a meeting to see what the club is all about. For more information on attending a meeting or joining, please email club secretary, Conrad Schlesinger, at cdschlesinger@outlook.com
