A report found rivers and streams across Pennsylvania are testing positive for harmful levels of the bacteria E. coli, which spreads through fecal matter. The nonprofit PennEnvironment found that at 55% of 653 monitoring sites, levels of E. coli reached potentially unsafe levels for swimmers in 2024 and 2025. Nearly 40% of testing sites tested positive for unsafe levels of the bacteria on at least one-quarter of the days they were tested. E. coli is especially harmful for swimmers. One dead in multi-vehicle crash on I-80

BELLEFONTE — One driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a multi-vehicle accident along Interstate 80 in a portion of ongoing construction. According to state police at Rockview, at about 3:32 p.m. on Aug. 25, a vehicle was traveling east on the roadway near the merge point of long-term construction in the area of mile marker 164 when it struck another vehicle which had slowed due to an impending backlog at the construction zone. BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Symphony Orchestra and its musicians ratified a three-year contract Tuesday, avoiding what could have been the first strike in the ensemble’s 145-year history.
