Two-alarm fire causes extensive damage in Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN — At approximately 6:28 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, emergency crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 136 E. Water Street in the City of Lock Haven.
Fire units arrived on scene to find fire showing from the third story of the building. As conditions worsened, the Incident Commander requested a second alarm, bringing additional fire crews from Dunnstown, Flemington, Jersey Shore, Avis and Renovo to assist with suppression efforts.
Firefighters worked for several hours, and the incident was officially placed under control at approximately 10 p.m.
The third floor sustained extensive fire damage, while the first and second floors suffered significant water damage. Initial damage estimates are approximately $200,000.
The occupants of the two third-floor apartments were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross was notified and assisted the displaced residents, along with support from the Golden Axe. No injuries were reported.
A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was requested to the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
During the incident, Logan and Undine Fire Companies were placed on standby and covered local stations while crews operated at the scene.
Following the fire, food was delivered to firefighters, with pizzas provided by Broken Axe, Domino’s, and Pizza Hut.
Units responding included:
Stations 5, 6, 7, 8, 17, 21, 22, 29, and 42, Lycoming County Station 45, Clinton County EMA, the American Red Cross and Lock Haven City Police.
