PSP: Electrical failure cause of fire along River Road
SOUTH AVIS — An electrical failure was the cause of a structure fire along River Road on Jan. 20, according to reports from state police at Lamar.
The fire was reported at about 5:20 a.m. at a vacant structure located at 2339 River Road, Pine Creek Township, which brought multiple crews across the county, including those in neighboring Lycoming County, to battle the blaze. The fire was reported out by 9:21 a.m.
Following an investigation by state police, the origin of the fire was believed to be caused by an electrical failure near an exterior porch roof.
“Orientation of the porch roof assisted fire growth through a window/doorway opening allowing for the fire to easily progress to the interior,” the report stated.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Crews responding to the fire included fire companies in Mill Hall, Dunnstown, Lock Haven Citizens Hose, Avis, Wayne Township, Lamar Township and Eastside fire along with Lycoming County crews including Independent Hose of Jersey Shore, Nippenose Valley, Waterville, Antes Fort and Clinton County Emergency Management.
