Multiple retail thefts net over $2,000

MILL HALL — A 67-year-old Mill Hall man is facing multiple charges of retail theft after it was discovered he’d stolen over $2,000 in merchandise from Walmart in Mill Hall, state police at Lamar said.

According to police, on Jan. 22 at about 8:45 p.m., troopers were called to the store along Hogan Boulevard for reports of retail theft.

At the scene, it was discovered Mark Williams allegedly committed multiple retail thefts totalling $2,105.05, police said.

Williams is accused of taking the following items: men’s Wrangler jeans, valued at $47.96; Killer Instinct crossbow, valued at $298; Tow-Smart aluminum hitches, valued at $687; Brok Sentinel duel-hitch, valued at $144; Aluma-Tow full adjustable hitch, valued at $270; Bear Radiant compound bow, valued at $498; Hyper Tough 12-piece flex head, valued at $45; Mentos gum, valued at $8.54; meat sticks, valued at $6.94; tool/wrench set, valued at $43.23; Pokemon cards, valued at $25; semi sweet chocolate chips, valued at $6.86; and crab legs, valued at $24.97.

Charges of retail theft were filed through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office.

One dies, another seriously injured in head-on collision

McELHATTAN — One driver was pronounced dead and another with serious injuries following a head-on collision in Dunnstable Township on Jan. 6, state police at Lamar said.

According to police, at 12:22 p.m., Saabir M. Gibson, 29, of Williamsport, was traveling north on McElhattan Cressmon Bridge when his 2015 Kia Sorento drifted into oncoming traffic, police said.

Jeffrey M. Clark, 66, of Lock Haven, was driving in the opposite lane and attempted to veer towards the western shoulder of the bridge but was unable to avoid the collision, police said.

The vehicles struck each other head-on causing disabling damage, police said.

According to police, Gibson was transported by Lock Haven EMS to Geisinger Jersey Shore but was later pronounced dead as a result of the crash.

Clark was transported by Goodwill Hose EMS to UPMC Williamsport for suspected serious injuries, police said.

One-vehicle

DUI crash

LOCK HAVEN — A 58-year-old Lock Haven man was arrested for driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash on Dec. 18, Lock Haven City Police said.

On Dec. 18 at about 6:50 a.m., police were called to the area of Linden Street and Second Avenue for reports of a crash where, through an investigation, it was suspected Guy Vernon Mase was driving under the influence, police said.

Police said they observed the vehicle, which was slightly over an embankment and curb, had a layer of ice on the windshield that would have severely obstructed the driver’s vision.

Mase admitted to police he consumed alcohol but declined a blood test, police said.

Mase was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, reckless driving and windshield obstructions and wipers, police said.

Vehicle crash leads to drug arrest

LOCK HAVEN — A vehicle crash in Lock Haven on Sept. 18 led to drug possession charges for a passenger, Lock Haven City Police said.

At 6:20 p.m., police were called to the accident at the intersection of East Church and Corning streets. During an investigation, emergency personnel alerted officers to a plastic bag containing a suspicious substance and a cut straw found in the waistband of Lori Lynn Spicer, 56, police said. Spicer was being treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

The substance was later tested and found to be methamphetamine, police said. As a result, Spicer was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Package theft

LOCK HAVEN — A 55-year-old Lock Haven man faces multiple theft charges following an investigation by Lock Haven City Police.

Police received a report of a package theft on Dec. 12 at about 9:04 p.m. and, through an investigation and video surveillance, were able to identify Richard Clover Young as the thief.

In the video surveillance, Young can be seen checking the mail bin area on five separate dates and times before taking the package, police said.

Young was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, loitering and prowling at nighttime, theft of mail, theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

Women arrested

following disturbance

LOCK HAVEN — A 27-year-old State College woman was arrested and charged after officers responded to reports of a disturbance on Dec. 11, Lock Haven City Police said.

According to police, officers were called to the 600 block of East Main Street at 8:48 p.m. for reports of a woman causing a disturbance in a common area of an apartment building.

It was reported the woman was yelling loudly and was completely unclothed, police said.

After an investigation and questioning, Kiana Ashley Smith admitted to being the woman officers were looking for, police said.

Smith was charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Public drunkenness

LOCK HAVEN — On Sept. 26, 2025, Lock Haven City Police were called to the 100 block of South Jones Street at 11:34 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive male.

Upon arrival, they found the individual, later identified as Wesley Cleon Snyder, 39, of Lock Haven, lying on the stairs of a residence, barely conscious and unable to communicate, police said.

Snyder was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. A substance found next to him on the stairs was later confirmed to be cocaine through testing, police said.

As a result, Snyder was charged with possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness.
