Sarah Mullally named the first female Archbishop of Canterbury in history of Church of England

LONDON (AP) — Bishop of London Sarah Mullally was announced Friday as the next Archbishop of Canterbury, the first time in 1,400 years that a woman has been chosen as the spiritual leader of the Church of England. Mullally, 63, a former chief nursing officer for England, will face serious challenges including divisions over the treatment of women and LGBTQ people. Bishop Samuel Gobat (1799-1879) of Jerusalem, told a story during a difficult missionary trip in Africa. He endured persecution and many dangers and became greatly discouraged. He entered a cave, dropped to his knees and poured his heart out to God, crying out about being forgotten and forsaken. In our daily lives, we place values on so many things in our lives. When we buy a vehicle, it has a listed price, but our question to ourselves is… “How much is that vehicle worth to me?” The answer to that question usually decides whether we buy it or not.
