William D. ‘Bill’ Asper

William D. “Bill” Asper
William D. “Bill” Asper, 86, of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully on Nov. 19, 2024 at The Gatehouse in Williamsport, Pa. He was very stoic and dignified in dealing with his recent health issues and never complained.
Bill was the son of John B. and Grace (Uffleman) Asper, born and raised in Haneyville, Pa. He attended the one room schoolhouse in Caldwell through grade school and graduated from Jersey Shore High School.
He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings, Walter “Bud” (BettyMae) Asper, Paul (Carole) Asper, Betty (Ture) Larson, Lois (Alvin) Hibbler, Grace (Volker) Kruhoeffer and John (Vicki) Asper.
Bill began his career as an equipment operator, and was proud to have worked on the Pine Creek Dam. He later worked at Hammermill.
Being raised in a family of entrepreneurs, it wasn’t long before he would start his own business. He had several over the years, including Giftline of Pennsylvania and Snowblind Friends, but his most beloved business of all was Asperline Log Homes (formerly Timberline.) He is fondly remembered by many of his customers, associates and employees.
His family and social life all revolved around his log home business, and if asked if he could go back in time to any business, it was always log homes.
As a self-proclaimed workaholic, he didn’t make much time for hobbies, but he truly enjoyed his family, traveling, attending music concerts, riding his Harleys, fishing and the outdoors. Music was a passion, and he had been a drummer in a band for many years.
His children were always “part of the business” in one way or another and grew up with a good work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He is survived by Dawn (Tom) Brown, Sherry Asper, Mark Asper, Stephanie (Jim) McGill, Matt (Paige) Asper, Zach (Lacey) Asper and Makenna Asper; along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill was a collector of quotes and bits of wisdom. One of the standouts is “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” — Abraham Lincoln
A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
