KAY EMERICK
Kay S. Emerick, 90, of Bellefonte, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, at Centre Care Nursing Home in Bellefonte.
He was born in Zion, Pa., on Jan. 6, 1935, to the late Bruce and Faery (Sharer) Emerick.
On April 12, 1955, he married his beloved wife of 70 years, Marlene (Deitrich) Emerick, who survives at home.
Kay graduated from Walker Township High School in 1952. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Kay traveled to many countries during his 24 years in service. He served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He acquired over 15,000 flying hours and more than 250 flight missions as an airborne radio operator. Kay was awarded many medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the military in 1976.
After retirement he was employed by the State of California, retiring for a second time in 1995.
Kay lived in Sacramento, Calif., for 38 years alongside Marlene. They enjoyed camping and were 25-year-members of the camping club, Happy Hobos. They traveled all over the U.S. to state parks and to 49 states.
Kay enjoyed reading books about the military and mysteries.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Charles Emerick, of Zion, and Steven Thomas Emerick, and his wife, Christine, of California; and a granddaughter, Alice Rowley, of North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanne Eichenlaub; and a brother, Jerry Emerick.
A Graveside Service was held at Hublersburg Cemetery with full military honors.
