Shorelines and energy

In reference to the opinion article in your March 2 paper, Maryland and New Jersey put their electric grid back on coal and natural gas. Both states have shorelines but they refuse to let Wave Energy platforms located near their shorelines. Why should Pennsylvania pay more for electricity because they are afraid these platforms will destroy the beauty of their shorelines?
Not only will our prices for electricity go up, we’ll all have more methane. Scientists can see methane gas from outer space with satellites that’s coming from gas and oil drilling, and using coal for making electricity. Scientists say methane gases are TRIPLE what the government thinks.
(If you want to read more information on methane gas, please read page B10 in the March 14 newspaper.)
Some scientists say noise from these wave platforms will cause so much noise that whales will be disturbed by their noise. But other scientists say they can fix this noise problem. So what is the big deal? Aren’t you concerned about climate change?
I know your ocean shores are beautiful and attract tourism, especially in the summer. Wave platforms are not going to stop me or anyone else from visiting your shores. Most people go to swim, surf, relax on the beach and visit the boardwalks.
What about our beautiful mountains in Pennsylvania and other states? People come to ski and enjoy our mountains as much as others visit your shorelines. You don’t hear them complaining about these wind farms.
We need to work together in this country to solve climate change. We should be thankful for large companies that try to help in these endeavors.
