Let’s make our Clinton County inviting!

I am writing in the hopes of inspiring those who have the power to make things happen!

Every year we have some big events in the Lock Haven Clinton County area.

The Sentimental Journey Fly-in, the Regatta, hiking competitions, hang gliding, bike and marathon races, many concerts, college and high school events and other tourism.

People come from not just nearby communities, but from all around the country to visit here, whether it be on business or pleasure.

The thing I always notice — and others do too — is that our roads coming into Clinton County always look ragged and unkempt.

Things are mowed, but with what seems like dull blades and mowed too high.

Yes PennDot mows occasionally, but they could do way better.

I know they have a schedule. But when they do mow, they need to do a good job and make it inviting to those coming into our area.

All the exit ramps such as Lamar I-80, Lock Haven I-80, Salona, Mill Hall, Lock Haven, McElhattan, and Avis exits should be immaculate, with weed eating around sign posts and marker posts.

The City of Lock Haven has been doing an exceptional job at making things look spectacular — especially the Paul Mack Boulevard ramps and the dike.

I travel around all these areas that keep their roads and berms in tip-top condition, and it looks like those counties and states care about how their areas look to others coming into them or even just passing through.

They welcome people to the area by making things look well-manicured and inviting.

You might not think so, but how people view things when coming into our area, means more possible business moving in, more people considering moving here and more people coming just because they feel good because of how the area is maintained.

On the city side, it would be nice if the floating stage, and the boat docks could be positioned for storage further west towards the end of the fence at the airport and still enable space to safely land planes.

It would be nice to present an unobstructed view of the Piper Air Museum and the Government Building.

All these areas should look inviting and well-groomed.

It would be nice if we could see more banners, posters and road signs for area events, a festive welcoming for all people.

The Sentimental Journey Fly-in is coming up…it’s not far away, just a few weeks.

It is my hope this inspires action to make things better.

Think outside the box, inspire, and make us all proud to help our Clinton County thrive and live even more!

Starting at $3.69/week.
