“Philipsburg wrestled well. They’re a good team and they came to wrestle,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Ron Guenot. “They outwrestled us tonight, and the score says that.”

The night’s matches started out at 107. There, the Mounties took the opener, as Hayden Koptchak got the early take down on Michael Wesley and proceeded to pick up the pin at 1:14. Philipsburg-Osceola then took an easy win at 114, as Jacob Dugan won by forfeit to give the team an early 12-0 lead.

That run continued, as Philipsburg-Osceola’s Devon Long escaped with a hard fought 2-1 decision victory over Tyler Corey at 121. Trailing 1-0 going into the third period, Long was awarded a stall point and moments later, an escape to come from behind for the win.

The Mounties kept it up at 127. Caleb Hummel was busy in the second period, with the Mountie picking up a near fall and eight back points, closing in on a tech fall. He would capture that in the third period, defeating Liam Purcell 18-1 at the 4:20 mark. P-O then upped its lead to 26-0 at 133 pounds when Ace Hunter pinned Logan Burns in a quick, six-second match.

Bald Eagle Area finally got on the board at 139 when Tanner Guenot systematically took control against Connor Guenot as he picked up an 18-3 technical fall at 4:53. Things kept rolling for the Eagles at 145, with Dawson Lomison taking over and earning a hard-fought 8-5 decision over Avery Gable.

At 152, Caden Judice won by forfeit, cutting it to a 26-14 contest. That run would close at 14 points as at 160, the Mounties’ Ty Fulmer won by injury default Kayson Tice 3:37.

Bald Eagle picked some much needed bonus points at 172. Brody Gardner did not disappoint, as he pinned Brett Hahn at 3:37. 189-pounder Colton Chapman won by forfeit to give Philipsburg the bonus points.

At 215, the Mounties continued its winning ways as Evan Eichenlaub won by decision over Kyle Watson, 6-3. Rounding out the night at 285, Bald Eagle Area picked up the last points.

Gage Gardner muscled his was to a hard fought 5-2 decision over Connor Eichenlaub. Gardner picked up a first period takedown and was able to pick up a hold on for the victory.

Picking up the Dennis “Flash” Horton Award Memorial Winners were Philipsburg-Osceola’s Evan Eichenlaub and Bald Eagle Area’s Brody Garner.

In the Junior High contest, the Bald Eagle Area squad defeated the Mounties 55-27.
