Jersey Shore hopes for a few medalists at District 4 championships
Jersey Shore has a handful of wrestlers competing in the Class AAA field that are eyeing top podium spots and berths to the Northeast Class AAA Regional tournament. That includes standouts Gabe Fisher, Louden Spotts, Tobias Morgret and Jon Dincher.
All four have put together solid season and are title contenders and for Fisher, he’s been having a great freshman season since his first match of the year.
Fisher is 27-8 this year and has 12 wins via tech fall and six by pin as he’s been producing a great season. He may be a freshman, but he’s been tested all year as he has wrestled 14 opponents who are at least returning district qualifiers and number who were regional qualifiers.
He has a first-round matchup in the 121 semifinals against Christopher Getz of CMVT.
Louden Spotts is hoping to win a second consecutive district title as he’s 25-9 this year and is competing in the 152-bracket. He has a first-round bye into the semifinals and wrestles against either CMVT’s Hunter English or Williamsport’s Jahki Burget.
Tobias Morgret, like Spotts, has a top seed at 160 and is 26-10. He claimed district gold last year at 152 and is hoping for success again this year. Morgret has a bye into the semifinals and will wrestle against either Williamsport’s Austin Dunlap or Shikellamy’s Tristan Smith.
Dincher is seeded No. 2 in the 172 bracket and is 22-13 this year, the most wins the senior has put together in a single-season in his career. He’s also chasing his first carer gold medal after taking sixth as a sophomore and third last year.
Dincher wrestles against Selinsgrove’s Hunter Derk in the semifinals and needs just one win to ensure his highest district finish yet.
