WINGATE – Two old familiar rivals met up Thursday when the Bald Eagle Area softball team renewed acquaintances in Laurel Highlands action. In the end, it would be the plate patience and a big swing by Raelee Repasky that decided this one as the Eagles won in strong fashion, 11-1, in five innings.
Repasky finished a triple short of batting for the cycle, posting a grand slam, double and single as she scored three times and finished with five RBIs in the win.
Harlee Witherite finished her day in the circle with going five innings allowing one run on five hits to get the win.
“Tonight, Harlee was solid again.
Penns Valley has got a nice team. They got some good gals there,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Don Lucas. “We were a little more shaker on defense than we have been, but, this comes with the territory. When you play a lot of games, you have a lot of time to practice.”

Breanne Lucas took the loss for the Rams. In the first, the Eagles cruised early sending down 3 of 4 of the first batters Witherite faced.
The only blemish was a single by Sydnie Dalton who singled with two outs. She also stole second but was left stranded.
But the Eagles offense exploded in their first at bats. Leading off Addyson Burns posted a walk to get the inning started. Maelee Yoder followed with a perfectly laid bunt single, moving Burns up to second on the play. Both moved up a base on a wild pitch.
Kendal Gavlock loaded the bases with a walk of her own. That would set the stage for Repasky as she took a 1-2 pitch over the centerfield fence for the grand slam, making it an early 4-0.
Lilly Harter reached base on an error and was replaced by courtesy runner Cami Walker.

Walker, and Hayley Simpson all scored to end the inning with the Eagles taking a 6-0 advantage going into the second.
Inning two for the Rams proved to be a quick one as they would pick up a lone hit by Aubree Klobucar. Bald Eagle picked up where they left off in the first. Repasky started the inning with a double that smoked past the Penns Valley third baseman and into left field. She later stole third.
Harter followed with a walk and was again replaced by Walker. Repasky scored on an RBI fielders choice hit by Casey Angellotti. Angellotti also later scored to up the home team’s lead to 8-0.
Witherite and her Eagles’ defense remained solid in the third, keeping the Rams off the board again. The bats continued to sizzle in the third for Bald Eagle Area as Yoder walked. Gavlock blasted a laser shot double, scoring Yoder.
Repasky posted a chopper past third, scoring Gavlock to make it a 10-0 lead. Macy Guenot would single home Repasky to give the Eagles some breathing room at 11-0.

But the comeback would not be enough as the Bald Eagle squad went on to the win. Bald Eagle will be back in action today as they travel to Johnstown.
