MILL HALL — Croda Inc. is lending a helping hand to several local nonprofit organizations to help with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Representatives from the company’s Mill Hall manufacturing site in Bald Eagle Township recently presented donations of $4,000 each to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Goodwill Hose Fire Company and Ambulance Association in Flemington, and Mill Hall Volunteer Fire Company.
“Part of Croda’s company values is being a responsible partner in the community, and we’re proud to support these three groups who do so much for our area,” said Croda Mill Hall site director Robert Strouse. “Our contributions were part of Croda’s global “Acts of Kindness” initiative, in which the company committed up to $200,000 to help communities close to our manufacturing sites through the challenges presented by COVID-19.”
Strouse noted that all three organizations have continued to support the Clinton County community during the ongoing crisis. At the same time, they all have suffered financially due to increased demand for their services and the cancellation of regular fundraising activities.
Goodwill Hose Company, for example, was forced to cancel its weekly bingo game as well as an annual carnival.

Mill Hall Fire Company also relies on weekly bingo game fundraisers. Another large fundraiser, the fire company’s annual fisherman’s breakfast traditionally held the opening day of trout season, was also canceled due to the pandemic.
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has been supporting the community through food distributions and is using the Croda contribution to help purchase food and cover other expenses related to the distribution process. Due to the food bank’s buying power, $1 can purchase six meals for distribution.
“We appreciate the strong relationship we have with each of these organizations,” noted Strouse. “We have worked together with them in the past, and we will continue to do so in the future.”
Croda, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Croda International Plc, a UK-based manufacturer and world-wide supplier of natural based specialty ingredients that are sold to virtually every type of industry.
