Engel named November Lions Club Student of the Month

JERSEY SHORE — Lucille Josephine Engel, daughter of Lora and Jarod Engel, of Jersey Shore, has been selected as the November Lions Club Student of the Month at Jersey Shore Area Senior High School.

Lucille is recognized for her outstanding academic achievement, leadership and dedication to service both in and out of school.

Throughout her high school career, Lucille has been actively involved in a wide range of activities.

As a freshman, she participated in the school musical and play, Drama Club, Key Club and track and field. She continued her involvement in Key Club and track and field during her sophomore year.

In eleventh grade, Lucille expanded her activities to include the National Art Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Honor Society, FBLA and track and field.

As a senior, she remains heavily involved in Key Club, NAHS, NEHS, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, tutoring, FBLA, Red Cross, Outdoor Club, track and field and cross country.

Lucille holds several leadership positions, serving as Key Club Webmaster, she lettered in and was captain of the cross country team and treasurer for both the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society during her senior year.

Her commitment to community service is evident through her involvement at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bastress, where she volunteers at church picnics and breakfasts and participates in youth group activities.

Lucille also works at Phil-It-Up, volunteers at trail races by assisting with aid stations and registration and regularly helps at the Care & Share Center.

Academically and athletically, Lucille has earned a place on the distinguished honor roll throughout her high school career, has been accepted into the National Honor Society, received the Bishop’s Youth Award and has lettered in varsity track and field during both her sophomore and junior years.

In her free time, Lucille enjoys hunting with her dad, fishing, hiking, trail running, camping, reading and spending time with family and friends. After graduation, she is pursuing a college degree in biology and conservation and plans to work for the game commission.

Lucille’s leadership, strong work ethic and dedication to helping others make her a very deserving recipient of the Lions Club Student of the Month honor.
