Spring, Labor Day regattas again on tap for 2026

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven is once again hosting two major APBA racing weekends in 2026.

The Lock Haven Regatta Foundation, in conjunction with the Delaware Valley Outboard Racing Association (DVORA) and the American Power Boat Association (APBA), is proud to once again provide no-admission-charge events to bring together Stock, Mod, PRO and Junior racers for high‒speed competition on the Susquehanna River in Lock Haven.

The Fourth Annual Spring Regatta will bring the Northeast Challenge Tour: Round 1 to the Susquehanna River in Lock Haven May 2-3. The event brings the 300SSH Northeast Challenge Tour Round 1 J, Mod, Stock.

Racing classes featured:

— 300SSH

— Junior (J)

— Modified (Mod)

— Stock.

Also, the 55th Lock Haven Regatta Foundation Labor Day Regatta will be held Sept. 4-7.

The midway on East Water Street from Jay to Henderson streets and the Arts and Crafts section in Canal Park from East Water Street to East Main Street will be open:

— Friday, Sept. 4, from 6-10 p.m.

— Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

— Sunday, Sept. 6, from 12-10 p.m.

— Monday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Live music will be featured all three days and four nights on The Gary C. Tarr Memorial Stage on the corner of Jay and Water streets, presented by The Lock Haven Regatta Foundation, Schlesinger Communications, Inc. and Bear Country 99.9-WQBR.

Boat racing Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. through Monday, Sept. 7, will feature:

— 300SSH Northeast Challenge Tour Rounds Eight and Nine

— King of the Water Round Six J, Mod, PRO, Stock.

In 2019, the Lock Haven Labor Day Regatta was named the best race site in the United States by the American Power Boat Association (APBA). The award, presented at the APBA end-of-year banquet, recognized the location for its overall race quality, atmosphere and attendance.

This was the first time the Lock Haven Regatta received the “Best Site of the Year” award.

Lock Haven consistently hosts the largest powerboat race in the U.S., with boat counts exceeding 500 entries in some years.

Many teams treat this as a season‒defining event.

Labor Day weekend in Lock Haven is one of the biggest racing weekends of the year nationwide.
