KCSD encourages retirees to become SMILES volunteers

MILL HALL — The Keystone Central School District is encouraging local retirees to consider becoming a SMILES Program volunteer. Through this program, eligible senior residents can volunteer in district schools and receive up to a $500 credit on next year’s school property taxes. Participants complete 69 hours of volunteer service during the school year while supporting students, teachers and school programs in areas such as classrooms, libraries, cafeterias, offices and enrichment activities, according to information shared by the district. Covenant Cafe to meet April 7

LOCK HAVEN — The Covenant Cafe, an activity group for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, will be meeting on Tuesday, April 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. The group will be viewing a photo show of their activities in the past year compiled by volunteer photographer, Bill Raco. EGG HUNTS There’s many egg hunts planned for tomorrow, April 4, just ahead of the Easter holiday. The weather looks to be cloudy but warm, with the chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm by the afternoon. I’m sure the kiddos will love the egg hunting experience. Be sure to bring your own bag, basket or bucket to fill with Easter eggs.
