MACKEYVILLE — The 2025 Tom Mills Memorial Golf Tournament took place on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Belles Springs Golf Course, drawing a record-breaking 120 participants.

“Tom Mills, who worked in law enforcement for 40 years, started the golf tournament for Camp Cadet back in 2010 to support a program he found to be extremely important to our youth. Sadly, on Dec. 10, 2023, Tom passed away,” Tournament Director Jen Bottorf shared.

The day was filled with laughter, fun and plenty of golf carts zipping across the course.

In addition to the tournament, participants enjoyed raffles, a 50/50, putting contests, mulligans and skill challenges, including closest to the pin and longest drive.

One golfer summed up the spirit of the day, saying, “It’s a beautiful day, and I just love having a good time with friends while supporting a great program.”

Open to boys and girls ages 11-15, the six-day camp gives participants hands-on exposure to law enforcement activities and the chance to connect with police officers on a personal level. The goal is to create positive, lasting impressions that officers are friends and mentors.
