MH Boro hears ambulance subscription plan for residents
MILL HALL — Mill Hall Borough council welcomed Goodwill Volunteer Ambulance Company Chief Kim Shainline and Deputy Chief Megan Lucas to this month’s meeting to speak about the 2026 ambulance subscription that will be hitting mailboxes soon.
With these subscriptions, individuals and families can easily access emergency services without the stress of financial burden.
What residents in their coverage area should be receiving is a brochure that discusses the cost of the subscription and what those above receive in terms of services.
“If you or a loved one in your household is in need of an ambulance, we bill your insurance, however, there’s usually a deductible that’s left over for you to pay,” said Shaylin. “And those costs can be pretty expensive, especially when it’s something you weren’t expecting to pay.”
This subscription would allow the ambulance company to still bill your insurance, but anything left over will be covered, at no additional out-of-pocket costs to the family.
“Let’s say you have a $1,500 ambulance bill and insurance only covers $1,000 of that. You would be on the hook for $500, if you didn’t purchase the subscription,” explained Shaylin.
There are three different levels of subscriptions that are offered. For a single senior, anyone over 65, is $50, for an individual under 65, it is $75 and a family option that will cover you and any other taxable dependents that are living in the home.
