Crash

LAMAR — State police at Lamar responded to a single vehicle crash along Interstate 80 in Porter Township.

According to police, the crash occurred at 11:10 p.m. on Dec. 25 as Daniel Cappa, 50, of East Stroudsburg, fell asleep while operating his Dodge Caravan in the left lane. He went off the left side of the roadway, striking a guide rail before coming to a final stop, police said in their report.

No injuries were sustained from the crash.

Two-vehicle crash

ROTE — State police at Lamar responded to a crash along Interstate 80 involving two vehicles.

According to police, the crash occurred at 6:35 a.m. on Dec. 15 due to icy conditions on the roadway when Rony Painson, 52, of Brooklyn, N.Y., attempted to stop due to a previous crash blocking both lanes.

Due to ice, her Freightliner could not stop and struck a Grande West Transportation International driven by Edward Mitchell, Jr., 63, of Ridgeville, S.C., police said.

Eagle Towing, PennDOT and Sugar Valley Fire Department/EMS assisted on the scene. There were no injuries as a result of the crash, according to police.

Crash

LOGANTON — State police at Lamar responded to a crash along Interstate 80 in Greene Township.

According to police, the crash occurred at 9:36 a.m. on Dec. 23 as Callan Morrin, 22, of Durham, N.C., was traveling in the left lane when a Mack truck approached her Honda Civic on the right side.

The cross winds and road conditions caused Morrin to be pushed by the wind of the truck. She hit the brakes and then lost control of her vehicle, according to police.

Morrin crossed into the right lane and off of the roadway, striking an embankment with the 11 o’clock position of the vehicle, police said.

The vehicle flipped on its side, striking the ground again before bouncing and then hitting the ground again, police said in their report.

Bressler’s Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.

Crash

LOGANTON — State police at Lamar responded to a crash caused by slippery road conditions along Narrows Road in Logan Township.

According to police, the crash occurred at 11:07 a.m. on Dec. 22 as Shiela Gates, 46, of Loganton, was approaching a right turn in a Jeep Renegade and lost control due to snow covered conditions.

Gates traveled west off the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said.

Two-vehicle crash with injury

MILL HALL — State police at Lamar responded to a crash involving two vehicles with suspected injuries at the entrance of Mill Brook Plaza in Bald Eagle Township.

According to police, the crash occurred at 5:31 p.m. on Dec. 21 as Victoria Smith, 24, of Omaha, Neb., was stopped at a red light in a Volkswagen Jetta and Walter Miller, III, 71, of Lock Haven, failed to stop behind her, hitting the right rear portion of the vehicle with his Hyundai Elantra.

Miller sustained minor injuries and was transported to UPMC Lock Haven for treatment, police said in their report. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were drivable.

Strangulation

RAUCHTOWN — State police at Lamar responded to a domestic violence call involving a 30-year-old man, of Jersey Shore, and a 33-year-old woman, of Jersey Shore, along Heck Road in Crawford Township.

According to police, physical contact including strangulation was discovered to have occurred between the two parties on Dec. 17.

DUI-related crash

BELLEFONTE — A 31-year-old man, of Bellefonte, was charged with driving under the influence after he was involved in a crash with another vehicle along 760 Interstate 99 South.

State police at Rockview responded to the crash at 12:44 a.m. on Dec. 27. The man was subsequently arrested for DUI and charges are pending toxicology results, police said in their report.
