Hit and Run

MILL HALL — State police at Lamar responded to TravelCenters of America, 5600 Nittany Valley Drive, Porter Township, on July 2 at 11:46 p.m to investigate an incident of hit and run.

The incident occurred when a vehicle was pulling into the parking lot and struck the canopy of the building, police said.

The operator of the vehicle, no name listed, gave some information before leaving the scene, police said.

The investigation is continuing.

Rollover crash

RENOVO — State police at Lamar responded to the 8400 Block of Renovo Road in Grugan Township on July 5 at approximately 3:19 a.m. for reports of a crash.

Tiffani N. Zinn, 27, of Renovo, was operating a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse and traveling northbound when the vehicle traveled off the north side of the highway, police said.

Zinn over-corrected when turning back onto the highway and lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times before striking an embankment and coming to rest on the south side of the road, police said.

No injuries were reported although Zinn had not been wearing a seatbelt, police said.

Unlicensed driver

LAMAR — State police at Lamar investigated a vehicle accident on Interstate 80, Eastbound, near mile marker 173 in Porter Township, on July 6 at 9:47 p.m.

The driver, Katherin Zuma, 29, of Lincoln, Neb., was traveling east in the left lane when the vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, traveled off the roadway, striking the guide rail, police said.

The vehicle sustained significant damage, police said.

The driver was not injured, but was charged with a violation for not being licensed, according to Matthew Mills, the investigating officer.

Two vehicle crash

MILL HALL — State police at Lamar responded to a two vehicle crash on July 8 at approximately 3:08 p.m. at the intersection of Hogan Boulevard and Mill Hall Road in Bald Eagle Township.

Joseph J. Thomas, 64, of Flemington, was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, while Heidi G. McNatt, 57, of Farrandsville, was operating a 2014 Ford Escape during the incident, police said.

According to the police report, Thomas was traveling north from Mill Hall Road and was attempting to turn left onto Hogan Boulevard, when it struck McNatt’s vehicle in the 12 o’clock position.

Following the initial impact, both units came to a rest facing west on Hogan Boulevard, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Mill Hall Fire Company and Martin Motors Towing.

DUI crash

RENOVO — State police at Lamar were dispatched to Huron Avenue in Renovo Borough, on June 23, at 12:40 a.m. for the report of an unresponsive female in a car.

Prior to troopers arriving on scene, the female struck an emergency response vehicle belonging to the Renovo Fire Department with her vehicle and then fled, police said.

The arrestee, Samantha Monroe, 37, of Coudersport, Pa., was located a short distance away and taken into custody before being taken to the Clinton County Correctional Facility where appropriate charges were filed, police said.

Two vehicle crash

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview responded to an accident on the Benner Pike in Benner Township, on July 10, at 5:57 p.m.

Lisa Langford, 60, or Allenwood, was operating a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, when she pulled from a driveway and was struck by a 2018 Nissan Rogue being driven by Mary Rockey, 40, of Bellefonte, police said.

According to the investigating officer, Zachary Sayers, Rockey sustained a minor injury and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for evaluation.

Langford was cited for her role in the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by S&R Towing, police said.

Physical altercation

AVIS — State police at Lamar responded to an incident of alleged harassment with physical contact on July 10 at 11:36 a.m. along Clinton Street, in Avis Borough.

According to the police report, Dakota Clarke, 37, of Jersey Shore, was cited for multiple violations in his role during the incident.

Car strikes pole

LOGANTON — State police at Lamar responded to a one vehicle crash on July 1 at 4:53 p.m. on West Main Street, just west of Wood Street, in Loganton Borough.

According to the crash report, a 17-year-old male was operating a 2018 Kia Sorento at approximately 35 mph when the vehicle left the roadway and struck mailboxes and a utility pole. The operator admitted to falling asleep while operating the vehicle. There were no injuries. The driver will be cited for careless driving through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office.

Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene and PPL Electric Utilities repaired the utility pole, police said.
