Police: Upcoming DUI checkpoint in Centre County

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview announced that a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in Centre County in the coming weeks. Motorists that encounter the checkpoint will be stopped briefly, police said. Police said drivers may be detained for further investigation if there is indication they have consumed alcohol or controlled substances or committed any other violation of the law. While the checkpoint’s primary purpose is to identify impaired drivers, police said all traffic laws will be enforced.

Child injured in farming accident REBERSBURG — A 3-year-old boy from Miles Township was flown to the hospital after being injured in a farming accident involving a horse-drawn planter, according to state police at Rockview. At 5:07 p.m. May 4, state police were dispatched to 6600 Brush Valley Road in Miles Township to assist EMS with an injured child. The child was treated by local fire and EMS personnel before being flown to Geisinger Danville, where he remains under medical supervision. The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
