Centre DA: County sees spike in overdoses

BELLEFONTE - Since August, Centre County police agencies have responded to at least 11 overdose calls. Responding agencies included Pennsylvania State Police, Bellefonte Police, Patton Township Police, Ferguson Township Police and State College Police. Of those 11 overdose calls, three have resulted in death since Aug. 22. "We are seeing a very concerning trend in regards to overdoses and deaths this past four weeks," said Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna. Clinton County added six new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Since the outbreak first began there have been 143 total cases of COVID-19 in the county. Of those 127 are confirmed and 16 are probable. So far 3,539 people have tested negative to the virus. LHU reports 32 additional COVID-19 positives Tuesday

LOCK HAVEN - Lock Haven University reported 40 total positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon, an uptick of 32 cases since school began on Monday, Aug. 24. So far 822 students and staff have received asymptomatic testing with 781 testing negative for the virus. One new case of COVID-19 was reported in Clinton County on Monday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Since the outbreak first began there have been 136 total cases of COVID-19 in the county. Of those 120 are confirmed and 16 are probable. So far 3,501 people have tested negative to the virus.
