McELHATTAN - Area fire companies have responded to a garage fire that has spread into the woods behind a property along Cox Lane in Wayne Township. Numerous fire companies have been called as a request went out for more man power. Initial reports from the scene indicate the fire started in the garage and due to drought and windy conditions quickly spread. More information will be available in Friday's edition of The Express.
LOCK HAVEN - Two positive cases of coronavirus were confirmed today at Lock Haven University. Last Thursday the university began testing students and staff as they arrived at the university for the fall semester, which officially began Monday. On Monday, LHU President Dr. Robert Pignatello reported 600 staff and students had been tested so far and the results were back for about 266... and they were all negative. No new cases of COVID-19 were added in Clinton County on Wednesday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Since the outbreak first began there have been 130 total cases of COVID-19 in the county. Of those 115 are confirmed and 15 are probable. So far 3,282 people have tested negative to the virus. LOCK HAVEN - A state police fire marshal has ruled the cause of a severe house fire Wednesday morning electrical in nature, according to property owner Fred Lingle. Lingle said Trooper Ben Campana met with the insurance adjuster and himself on Thursday and determined the fire started near the stove in the kitchen. Although the house was unoccupied, Lingle said the loss is significant, as he and his wife had just recently moved into the house next door, leaving behind a great amount of furnishings and other items.
