BEA, Bellefonte wrestlers see success on Day 1 of District 6 Class AA tournament

ALTOONA — Bald Eagle Area and Bellefonte had plenty of wrestlers see success on Friday on Day 1 of the District 6 Class AA championships in Altoona.

The District 6 Class AAA tournament will begin on Saturday morning in Altoona while the Class AA field continues competition.

Tanner Guenot reached the semifinals at 107 pounds after a convincing 18-1, 5:23 tech fall over Forest Hills’ Logan Moss. Bellefonte’s Wyatt Long is also semifinal-bound at 107 thanks to a fall in 2:47 against Bishop McCort’s Daelon Britt.

Bald Eagle Area’sCaden Judice advanced to the semifinals at 114 by earning a hard-fought 4-2 decision against Cambria Heights’ Hunter Jones.

Bellefonte’s Lucas Fye advanced to the semifinals at 127 with a dominating fall in 52 seconds over Huntingdon’s Chris Gibson. Bald Eagle Area’s Dawson Lomison advanced at 133 after he cruised to a 12-0 major decision victory over Mount Union’s Jacik Hess.

Bellefonte’s Noah Weaver won via tech fall at 145 to advance to the semifinals, 17-1, 3:36, against Richland’s Tucker Lindrose.

Bald Eagle Area’s Caleb Close needed just 79 seconds to pin United’s Max McConnville at 189 to reach today’s semifinals.

Bald Eagle Area’s Mason Reese came just shy of advancing to the semifinals after losing in the quarterfinals to Bishop McCort’s Jackson Butler, 6-1, by decision. The loss drops Reese into the consolation bracket where he’ll battle for third.

Bald Eagle Area’s Gage Gardner lost an extremely close matchup where neither opponent was giving up points in a narrow 1-0 decision loss to Bishop McCort’s Jordan Butler at 215 to fall into the consolations.

Bellefonte’s Jacson Long also found himself in the consolation bracket after a tough loss at 152. United’s Caden McCully earned a 6-5 decision over Long to eliminate the Raider from a chance at winning gold. Also at 152, Bald Eagle Area’s Gavin Bennett lost by tech fall to Pen Cambria’s Trent Hoover, 16-1, 2:14.

Bellefonte’s Jack McHall will compete in the consolations after suffering a 19-3, 3:56 tech fall loss at 160 to Bishop McCort’s Devon Magro. Bald Eagle Area’s Cameron Dubbs is also in the consolation rounds after an 8-1 decision loss at 172 against Forest Hills’ Kory Marsalko.

Finally, at 285, Bald Eagle Area’s Eric Clark lost to Glendale’s Daniel Williams by fall in 1:16. He’ll compete in Saturday’s consolation rounds.

ROUND OF 16 RESULTS

Bellefonte’s Cameron Garcia earned a 2-0 decision win against West Branch’s Drakke Taylor at 127. Bellefonte’s Gavin Lucas fell by tech fall, 21-5, 2:00 at 133 in the Round of 16 to Bishop McCort’s Mason Gibson.

Ezra Swisher of Bellefonte picked up a 16-0, 4:52 tech fall win against Marion Center’sNoah Filipovich.

Bald Eagle Area’s Kayson Tice lost a tough matchup at 139 to Bishop McCort’s Bo Bassett in the Round of 16 by tech fall, 21-5, 1:47. The Eagles’ Shawn Knepp was pinned in 60 seconds at 160 to Bellefonte’s Jack McHall.

Bellefonte’s Quinn Park was also defeated by tech fall, losing to Moshannon Valley’s Reifer Houtzdale, 17-0, 5:18. Bellefonte’s Luke Hockenberry was pinned in 3:38 at 189 by River Valley’s Jack Rummel.

Bellefonte also saw Logan Rarrick lose via pin in 1:21 to Bald Eagle Area’s Gage Gardner at 215. Bellefonte’s Ian Vallmont lost by fall to Lucas Deloatch of Forest Hills at 285 in 5:16 and Bald Eagle Area’s Eric Clark pinned Moshannon Valley’s Dom Moore in 2:27 at 285.
