Blue-White crowds get early look inside Happy Valley Casino

Official opening to be announced soon

STATE COLLEGE — Visitors in town this weekend for the Penn State Blue-White Game can also get an early look inside the Happy Valley Casino ahead of its official opening.

The two-day preview, set for 2 to 10 p.m. April 24 and 25, coincides with Penn State football’s beloved scrimmage on Saturday, which is expected to bring thousands of tourists to the area.

Attendees will be able to preview the property’s amenities while helping staff complete final operational preparations.

The test days are part of a required trial run overseen by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to ensure all operations and procedures meet established gaming regulations before opening. In addition to being the first to experience the casino, guests, who must be 21 or older to attend, will help staff fine-tune the overall gaming experience.

Alongside its 600 slot machines and 30 live table games, the casino’s full-service restaurant, Center Bar and quick-serve dining option will be open during the trial period.

“The Test Days are an exciting milestone for our team,” said Eric Pearson, general manager of Happy Valley Casino. “We’re proud to welcome the community inside for the first time, not only to showcase what we’ve built, but also to give back to two incredible local organizations that make a meaningful impact everyday.”

All proceeds from the two-day event will benefit the State College Food Bank and the YMCA of Centre County.

The official opening date for Happy Valley Casino will be announced following the successful completion of the two-day test period, according to casino management. Though an exact date has not been announced, the casino is advertising its opening online as “this spring.”

The mini-casino in College Township’s Nittany Mall has been in development for several years. Legal challenges and regulatory reviews delayed the project before construction moved forward in 2025.
