LOCK HAVEN — The Salvation Army in Lock Haven recently celebrated its volunteers.

Community members gathered on Mon, May 11 for an evening of gratitude and celebration at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner hosted by the organization.

The event honored the many individuals whose time, dedication and service have made a lasting impact throughout the year.

The dinner brought together volunteers, staff and supporters to recognize the countless hours contributed to programs that serve local families, neighbors and community initiatives. Guests enjoyed a meal, shared stories and reflected on the accomplishments made possible through volunteer efforts.

Throughout the evening, several volunteers were acknowledged for outstanding service, including those who contributed to daily operations, helped during the Christmas season, stood kettles and helped serve our community. Awards and certificates were presented as a token of appreciation for their commitment.

This year’s Volunteer of Year Award was presented to Eiko Fetterer. Eiko volunteers three days a week cooking for the More than Bread program and helping with the pantry program. Eiko was named after Capt. Jaclyn Brewer and staff noticed her commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.

This year’s Community Partner of the Year Award was presented to Mark Schlessinger. Mark is known for the Mark the Shark Toy Drive that is done every Christmas, and Mark always ensures that The Salvation Army is able to assist hundreds of kids in the community with toys and gifts for Christmas.

As the evening concluded, attendees were reminded that volunteerism remains a cornerstone of the organization’s mission. Without continued community support, The Salvation Army can’t do what it does.
