Crash involving stolen vehicle
LAMAR — State police at Lamar responded to a crash along Interstate 80 in Porter Township involving a stolen vehicle and a fleeing suspect.
According to police, the crash took place at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 as Hunter Asbell, 25, of Philipsburg, crossed the center line and struck his Ford Explorer Sport Track into the rear trailer wheel of a Freightliner Cascadia driven by Kelvin Baez Espinal, 34, of Wilkes Barre.
After the impact, Asbell continued traveling east and went off the left shoulder of the roadway and struck an embankment, police said.
Asbell proceeded to flee the scene and was later located at the Flying J off Exit 173 of Interstate 80, police said. The vehicle he was driving was determined to be stolen out of Flinton.
Asbell was charged with possession of marijuana, stolen property and numerous traffic violations, police said. Tressler’s Towing assisted on the scene.
DUI
LOCK HAVEN — A 39-year-old Lock Haven man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop at the intersection of East Park Street and Mount Vernon Street in Lock Haven, according to state police at Lamar.
During the traffic stop on Jan. 28, the driver displayed indicators of impairment, police said. After field sobriety testing, he was taken into custody for DUI and transported to the hospital for chemical testing, police said.
Charges were filed through District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.
Criminal mischief
BEECH CREEK — A 23-year-old man was charged with criminal mischief after he punched a gas pump display screen, damaging it at the Uni-Mart at 42 Main St. in Beech Creek Borough, according to state police at Lamar. The incident took place on Feb. 12.
The damage caused to the display screen was valued between $3,000 and $4,000, police said. Charges were filed through District Judge John Maggs’s office.
Assault and DUI
MILL HALL — Kenneth Oliver, 58, of Mill Hall, was arrested for assaulting a 40-year-old, of Bellefonte, at the Valley Hotel and for DUI after leaving the scene in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado along Main Street in Mill Hall Borough on Feb. 11, according to state police at Lamar.
A traffic stop was conducted after Oliver left the Valley Hotel, at 246 Main St., where he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Harassment, disorderly conduct
LOGANTON — A 29-year-old Hughesville man was cited with harassment and disorderly conduct after a dispute during a child custody exchange between himself and a 29-year-old Pleasant Gap woman, at a rest area along Interstate 80 West in Greene Township, according to state police at Lamar.
It was reported during the incident on Feb. 12, that the arrestee threatened the victim, police said.
The arrestee was cited with disorderly conduct and harassment through District Judge John Maggs’s office.
Crash
LOGANTON — State police at Lamar responded to a crash along Interstate 80 in Greene Township.
According to police, the crash took place at 7:51 a.m. on Feb. 7 as Shan Darby, 42, of Lewisburg, struck the end of a guide rail and proceeded to travel off the highway 40 yards into the woods.
No injuries were reported from the crash.
Trespassing
LOGANTON — Michael Lamey, 32, of Loganton, was cited for trespassing on a 26-year-old victim’s porch along Mill Seat Lane in Loganton on Feb. 5.
Charges were filed through District Judge John Maggs’s office.
DUI-related crash
McELHATTAN — A 31-year-old Avis man was charged with driving under the influence after he was pulled over for traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour on state Route 220 North prior to crashing into a guide rail and bridge railing in Wayne Township, according to state police at Lamar.
Through and investigation during the incident on Jan. 15, it was determined that the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, police said.
He was charged with DUI and crash related offenses through District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.
Drug possession
AVIS — A 29-year-old Lock Haven woman was charged with drug possession in the parking lot of the Nittany Minit Mart at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Woodward Avenue in Pine Creek Township, according to state police at Lamar.
During the investigation on Feb. 8, it was found she was in possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Charges are pending lab results.
