Church vandalized

LOCK HAVEN — A case of institutional vandalism is being investigated by Lock Haven City Police.

According to police, someone painted graffiti on the rear of the House of the Lord Fellowship Church, 201 W. Main St. in Lock Haven. The incident took place sometime on either June 4 or 5. The letters “LHK” and “42R” were spray painted on the church, according to police. There was no estimate on cost of the damage.

Phone scam

MILLHEIM — State Police at Rockview are investigating a case of theft by deception that took place between Feb. 1 through June 5 in Millheim Borough.

According to police, a 67-year-old Millheim woman was sending money to someone she thought was a United States soldier who was trying to return home from Afghanistan. The “soldier” said they needed gift cards to return home. The Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General Senior Protection Unit assists with elder mistreatment, phone/email scams and deceptive business practices. The woman was scammed out of $2,300.

High-speed chase

RUSH TOWNSHIP — State Police at Rockview were involved in a high-speed chase that took place at 11:36 a.m. on June 6.

According to police, a trooper observed a black Toyota Corolla traveling at 77 miles per hour in a 55 mph. As troopers began in pursuit of the Corolla, the driver began to accelerate and make dangerous lane passes. Police say the fleeing vehicle reached speeds of more than 105 mph.

The driver then made a sharp turn into a driveway, exited the vehicle and was promptly taken into custody. A search of the vehicle was conducted and marijuana, suspected methamphetamine and related paraphernalia were discovered and seized. The driver of the vehicle, who was not named by police, was transported to the Centre County Correctional Facility, where he was lodged pending arraignment.

Domestic dispute

MILESBURG — A domestic incident was investigated by State Police at Rockview at 2:30 p.m. on May 20 in Milesburg Borough, Centre County.

According to police, Donald Ripka, 65, and Jordon Ripka, 21, both of Milesburg, were involved in a domestic incident along Hazel Street. The incident escalated into a fight. Both parties were taken into custody for various criminal violations.

Two-vehicle crash

BELLEFONTE — A two-vehicle crash was investigated by State Police at Rockview at 3:08 p.m. on June 1 in Boggs Township, Centre County.

Police say that a vehicle being driven by Armando Valora, 43, of Bellefonte struck a vehicle in parking lot at Dublinwood Drive. The vehicle was owned by a 74-year-old Bellefonte woman. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Valora was intoxicated. He was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a legal blood draw.

Charges are pending blood results.

Simple assault

SPRING MILLS — A case of simple assault of physical menace was investigated by State Police at Rockview.

According to police, they were called to Boal Gap Road in Potter Township, Centre County where a man allegedly pulled a gun from his holster during a verbal dispute and pointed it at the victim’s chest. He was charged with simple assault by physical menace and reckless endangerment.

The man was lodged at the Centre County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.

Harassment

CENTRE HALL — State Police at Rockview investigated a case of harassment that took place at The Meadows in Centre Hall.

According to police, a physical altercation took place between a patient and two staff members in Building D. Tamica Washington, 39, of Centre Hall, struck one employee in the face with a closed fist and bit the other employee on the shoulder twice. Washington was charged with two counts of harassment through magisterial district justice 49-3-04.

Rape investigated

BENNER TOWNSHIP — A case of rape is being investigated by State Police at Rockview.

The incident took place at 10 a.m. on May 16 along Institution Drive in Benner Township, Centre County. The victim is a 47-year-old Bellefonte man.
