WILLIAMSPORT — A federal judge has approved a $3 million settlement in a medical malpractice case stemming from the death in 2021 of a 19-year-old Penn State student. The settlement approved Monday by U.S. Middle District Judge Matthew W. Brann resolves the litigation brought by Sean Tomany, of Glastonbury, Conn., on his own behalf and as administrator of the estate of his son, Patrick. Harassment charge RENOVO — Brian Dwyer, Sr., 56, of Renovo, was cited for harassment following an incident along 7th Street in Renovo Borough on June 13, Renovo Borough Police said. According to police, the charge stems from an alleged assault that occurred near Erie Avenue at about 11 a.m. At the time, Dwyer allegedly struck a 24-year-old woman which was witnessed by two other witnesses, police said. Two fatal crashes reported in Centre County

STATE COLLEGE — Two fatal car crashes were reported in Centre County late last week, just days apart, according to local officials. The first crash took place on Wednesday, June 10 near the intersection of South Allen Street and Easterly Parkway in the area of Sunrise Terrace. According to a report from the Centre County Coroner’s office, Raina A. Kassoway, 48, of Boalsburg, died as a result of injuries sustained in the one-vehicle rollover crash. Driver flees crash LOCK HAVEN — The driver of a 2015 Ford F-150XLT fled the scene following a crash along Island Road, Dunnstable Township, state police at Lamar said. On May 24, Erika B. Kennedy, 21, of Jersey Shore, was traveling near the intersection with Quiet Lane when she left the south side of the roadway, traveled down a small embankment and struck a tree, causing disabling damages, police said.
