CASTANEA — A third-alarm barn fire brought firefighters from multiple departments to Castanea Township Monday evening, resulting in the loss of a large barn and several vehicles stored inside.
Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 8:13 p.m. on June 1 to 100 Bridge St. for a reported barn fire. Initial reports from the scene indicated the structure was fully engulfed in flames upon firefighters’ arrival.
Due to the volume of fire and the resources needed to bring the blaze under control, the incident was escalated to a third alarm.
Firefighters worked for several hours to extinguish the fire and protect nearby exposures.
According to reports from the scene, no animals were housed inside the structure at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported among civilians or emergency responders.

The barn was considered a total loss.
Two boats, a motorcycle, and other contents stored within the structure were also destroyed.
Responding agencies included Stations 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 17, 22, and 42, Utility 35-1, Lycoming County Station 3, PPL, and additional aid resources.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and has not been determined at the time of publication.
